ARE PILLS MOST EFFECTIVE FOR BIRTH CONTROL?

There are a number of birth control options out there, some more effective than others, and people with a regular sexual cycle usually go for contraceptives that assure greater effectiveness. Many people think the most effective is, and hence opt for, contraceptive pills.

That however isn’t the case, though contraceptive pills can be 85-95% effective, they are not the most effective form of birth control. We’re going to take a look at contraceptives that are more effective than pills.

BETTER CONTRACEPTIVES THAN PILLS

Although pills are effective if taken regularly with proper breaks, there are better contraceptives available, which not only assure better effectiveness but also require less attention and can work for longer periods of time.

The following is the list of such contraceptives:

  • CONTRACEPTIVE PATCH

You only need to wear a new contraceptive patch every week for three weeks and leave it off for one week. It is around 91-99% effective and requires way less attention than a pill.

  • CONTRACEPTIVE RING

Just like a patch, a ring does not require the user’s attention as much as a pill does. You have to insert it inside your vagina for three weeks and remove it off for one week. It is also nearly 91-99% effective.

  • BIRTH CONTROL INJECTION

If you have regularity in your sexual life and do not want to get pregnant for a long period, you can opt for contraceptive injections. You can go to your doctor and can get them done according to their consultations. They are almost 98% effective and you have to get them done every 12 weeks, that is only 4 times a year.

  • INTRAUTERINE DEVICE (IUD)

IUD is inserted by a doctor and is close to 99% effective. It can even last up to 5 years.
